| Music for Flute and Guitar |
|
| This small yet colorful collection includes five pieces by three well-known composers arranged for flute and guitar. The eighteenth century is represented by a Gavotte from one of the best-known composers of the period, Padre Giovanni Battista Martini (1706-1784). Two movements are taken from Tchaikovsky's famous piano cycle, Album for the Young: "Old French Song" and "Neapolitan Song." Finally, two pieces by Enrique Granados lend a Spanish flavor to the collection: "Oriental" and "Jota (Rondalla Aragonesa)." The flute clearly takes the lead in these duo arrangements, with the guitarist playing an active supporting role. The combination of flute and guitar works well, and these pieces could be used to provide a welcome contrast to piano-accompanied pieces in a recital or concert program.
